Hello and welcome to Speech Sense.

My name is Louise Gawthorn and I am the Director of Speech Sense.

I'm a paediatric Speech and Language Therapist and I created Speech Sense to help children with communication difficulties by offering assessment, advice and therapy in the Berkshire area.

I have over 14 years of experience working for the NHS in a variety of settings with a range of age groups. In recent years, I worked as the Clinical Lead for Specific Language Impairment (now known as Developmental Language Disorder), in my Trust, covering the whole of Berkshire. Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is still my area of expertise although many people have not heard of it! A more known condition which comes under the umbrella of DLD is Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia.

I pride myself on being the passionate, knowledgeable and caring Speech and Language Therapist that I started out as when I qualified in 2003. Although now with over 16 years of experience and further training and development which has enhanced my skill set.  I can honestly say that I love what I do and truly love working with children.  Being a proud parent of two, I understand on a personal level what it feels like to want people to treat your child with the same consideration and care that you do yourself.

Feel free to browse through my website to find out more about the services I offer. If there is anything you want to ask me, please use my contact page to get in touch with me.

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you,

Louise
